Communications manager – Canadian Society of Soil Science

The Canadian Society of Soil Science council welcomes applications for the appointment of a Communications manager, starting August, 3, 2026. This is a 2 year term volunteer position and may be reappointed for multiple terms.

The communication manager is a member of the communications committee and reports to the co-chairs of the communications committee. Duties of the position include:

  1. Provides strategic support relating to the society’s communications, specifically to increase reach among priority stakeholder groups and increase visibility.
  2. Participate in planning the society website, social media, and newsletter, and develops digital graphical content, ensuring accuracy and engagement.
  3. Prepares and assists with communications materials, including news, feature articles, media statements, blog posts, and key messaging documents.
  4. Performs additional duties that may be assigned by the co-chairs of the communications committee.
  5. May attend council meetings (non-voting member) to participate in relevant discussions, and must withdraw for discussions constituting a conflict of interest.
