Mission:
The mission of the 24WCSS Committee is to engage CSSS members (benefiting from their collective knowledge, expertise, and experience, according to their ongoing interests and availability), as well as relevant national and international stakeholders, in the planning, development, organization and realization of the 24th World Congress of Soil Science, including any associated public outreach, as well as related activities and legacies.
Purpose:
The purpose of the 24WCSS Committee is to deliver, on behalf of the CSSS, and under the auspice of the International Union of Soil Sciences, a successful 24th World Congress of Soil Science in 2030, in Toronto, with related activities throughout Canada.
Membership:
The 24WCSS committee consists of minimally of seven (7) individuals, including the committee Chair, the committee Vice-Chair, a CSSS Council Liaison, as well as at least four (4) other CSSS members, respecting the Society’s policy on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Goals:
The 24WCSS Committee aims to:
- Function within the Committee’s full Terms of Reference, as approved by the CSSS Council.
- Establish, and refine as necessarily, the composition and structure of the Committee, including any necessary sub-committees and working groups, to effectively address its evolving needs.
- Ensure adequate opportunity and capacity for Committee members to interact, as well as to engage external stakeholders and the public.
- Establish, and evolve as necessary, a clear scope of activities, to optimally fulfill the Committee’s mandate, with consideration of timelines, participants, resource requirements, and indicators of completion.
- Maintain regular communications with the International Union of Soil Science, as well as other relevant partners, sponsors, and the like, attending appropriately to eventual administrative requirements.
- Ensure appropriate management, access and preservation of relevant communications and documentation, relevant to the fulfillment of the Committee’s mandate.
Meetings:
The 24WCSS Committee will hold meetings a minimum of four times per calendar year, either in person, virtually or in hybrid mode.
Reporting:
The 24WCSS Committee shall report regularly to CSSS Council, as well as provide an annual report of activities and progress at CSSS Annual General Meetings.
