The Canadian Society of Soil Science council welcomes applications for the appointment of a Communications manager, starting August, 3, 2026. This is a 2 year term volunteer position and may be reappointed for multiple terms.
The communication manager is a member of the communications committee and reports to the co-chairs of the communications committee. Duties of the position include:
- Provides strategic support relating to the society’s communications, specifically to increase reach among priority stakeholder groups and increase visibility.
- Participate in planning the society website, social media, and newsletter, and develops digital graphical content, ensuring accuracy and engagement.
- Prepares and assists with communications materials, including news, feature articles, media statements, blog posts, and key messaging documents.
- Performs additional duties that may be assigned by the co-chairs of the communications committee.
- May attend council meetings (non-voting member) to participate in relevant discussions, and must withdraw for discussions constituting a conflict of interest.
