CSSS 2024, Soil Functions for Future Generations, University of British Columbia, Vancouver | June 9-13, 2024

The theme of the 2024 annual conference of the Canadian Society of Soil Science is Soil Functions for Future GenerationsThis theme encourages soil scientists to think about how we can safeguard the vital resource of soil into the future and how we can ensure that the many functions of soil are continued on into perpetuity.

We are thrilled to host the upcoming Canadian Society for Soil Science (CSSS) Annual Conference in Vancouver from June 9-13, 2024. As we prepare to gather once again, we invite you to contribute to the success of our event by sharing your expertise, insights, and innovative proposals for sessions.

  • The conference will feature three days of oral and poster presentations, including keynote speeches by two UBC professors. Additionally, The Hon. Robert Black, Senator and Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Forestry Committee will make a special appearance at the closing banquet.   • We’re also organizing an exciting 1-day field tour to the Sts’ailes Indigenous Community Lands in the Lower Fraser Valley, organized by JT Cornelis and Lesley Dampier, with guidance from Professor Emeritus Art Bomke. Participants will have the privilege of being welcomed by the Sts’ailes Indigenous community on their land to explore the Soil-Land-People relationship throughout history.
  • Additionally, there will be short tours of the UBC Farm, UBC Studios, and the Emerging Media Lab at UBC.
