Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 meeting of the CSSS scheduled for June 21–25 in PEI has been postponed to June 6-10, 2021. On March 27th, the CSSS council met with members of the PEI local organizing committee and representatives from the 2021 (Scott Chang) and 2022 (David Burton) organizing committees to discuss options. Both Scott and David’s teams graciously agreed to push their planned meetings back by 1 year. Choosing this option means that many of the efforts and expenses already made for the 2020 meeting will not be lost, but rather deferred to 2021. We are also grateful that the PEI organizing committee (led by Judith Nyrianeza and Scott Anderson) is committed to organize/host the meeting in 2021. Stay tuned for specific details. A few other related points: 1) Unless a refund is requested, registrations will automatically be deferred to the 2021 meeting. More details will follow. 2) Accordingly, there will be no 2020 Student Travel Awards to attend our society meeting (nor will there be student presentation awards); however nominations/applications for all other awards (e.g. CSSS Fellow) will still be accepted https://csss.ca/awards-criteria/ 3) The 2020 CSSS AGM, which would have been held during the PEI meetings, will now be held virtually (e.g. via a Zoom meeting with phone-in options) on Tuesday June 23 beginning at 1pm EST. Thanks to everyone for their patience, understanding, and ongoing commitment to the CSSS, and again a huge thanks to the work and flexibility from the meeting organizers. On behalf of the CSSS Council, we wish everyone well during this trying and unprecedented time. |
